Blackberry Webkit Browser Hands-On Review

Well folks, the long anticipated Webkit browser can finally be seen in action on a 9800 Slider! You asked for it and we got it! If I can say so myself, this is exactly the browsing experience that Blackberry users have all dreamed of! Fluid, Fast, and Snappy are a few words that can be used to describe it!

Some added features that have been rumored to be included, but are finally seen in the wild, are the pinch zoom feature and the tabbed browsing addition. One thing the browser in it's current state still lacks is flash support. However, it's only fitting that this functionality will be added in before final release. There are even more features of this browser that we didn't cover but we really just wanted to get this out to you asap! The most meaningful changes, however, are all under the hood if you couldn't tell.

In addition to filming the browser in action, we were also able to disprove the theory that the Webkit browser is dependent on service books. We know, we previously reported on that very theory, but we were all going off the best info that we had at the time! What does this mean? Yes, that the webkit browser, while possibly being OS6 exclusive, simply relies on java cods and NOT service books pushed by the provider. You know what that means.... The race to get this browser on other devices besides the 9800 is ON!

Check out our Driphter.com EXCLUSIVE hands on video below and let us know what you think about the future of Blackberry browsing! Thanks to our amazing sources who made this video possible! Enjoy!
