Blackberry Bold 9780 spotted again!
« on: July 27, 2010, 08:44:44 AM »
Bold 9780 Makes Another Appearance!

I'm excited to share some more pre-release goodness with you today! Our good friend Salomondrin brought you the first ever picture of the rumored Bold 9780 just this past weekend. This was shortly after Bla1ze outed the 9780 from a UAProf document at Crackberry.

Well I'm back with some more high-res photos of the upcoming device! As you can see from the About screen featured in the first photo, this device is clearly running OS6. So for those of you that doubted this device was really running OS6, there is your proof!

Below you will also notice that this device surely did get a memory bump up to support the new OS6.

I know some of you who love your 9700 are pleased to see RIM basically keeping the same design but just giving internal upgrades. I'm sure just like 9630 owners, some of you 9700 owners feel a bit left out knowing that your device likely won't get OS6 and you'll be forced to upgrade. So, how do you feel? Tell us in the comments below!

Stay tuned for more info this week on the 9780 coming from the always reliable BBLeaks as well as myself! Thanks to our source who sent these pictures in!

Below, another picture of the beautiful home screen!

There's 306MB free and the total memory is 512MB. That means that the OS has taken up roughly 200MB, which surely means that OS 6 should be able to run on a 9700??

So, it's pretty much just a 9700 with OS6 installed. Typical RIM...same ol' s**t with a couple minor tweaks and it's magically a new device model that sells for $500-$600. Jesus...how long are you people going to let RIM suck your blood?

Wow!  You know how you keep hearing that OS 6 needs at least 512MB App memory?  It hits you when you see that you only have 306MB after a "standard" OS 6 install.

I wonder how much of that is fluffy, that could be shrunk out??  I'd hope enough to let the 256MB folks play too!

i'm no expert, but with 306 free, you could definitely run this on a 9700 with 256, especially if you shrink out all the language files.  You would still have 50+mb remaining.

And that's really what I'm hoping.  I'm going to take a 6.0 OS and shrink it down and see where I can go with it...
